…Of the late ‘Ladies’ Velocipede Race, I need not say one word. The females who exposed themselves to the derision of our Melbourne gamin [slim boyish young women] and the disgust of every woman worthy of the name, have read the truth concerning their exploits in every newspaper and periodical in town. I am, however, in hopes that people generally are beginning to get over the velocipede mania, although I have no other foundation for that hope than the fact of having noticed two advertisements lately, to the effect that ‘a second-hand velocipede’ was for sale…
