First person caused to be killed by a velocipede? (1819)

Mrs Bearham, wife of Mr Bearham, maltster of Hunsley, Hants, returning home late in her cart, the horse took fright at a velocipede and was thrown out and killed on the spot.

Mr T Alford and three others travelled lately on a velocipede from London to Brighton (50 miles) in nine hours.
