Killed on the spot (1819)

Mr T Alford and three others travelled lately on a velocipede from London to Brighton (50 miles) in nine hours. Mrs Bearham, wife of Mr Bearham, maltster of Hunsley, Hants, returning home late in her cart, the horse took fright at a velocipede and was thrown out and killed on the spot.
