The Hecla, Captain Perry (1827)

The Hecla, Captain Perry, intended for a voyage of discovery to Spitzbergen, is completely fitted. Several velocipedes are taken on board. When the Peruvians first saw a Spaniard on horseback, their consternation was excessive and this no doubt will be the effect when the Esquimaux behold an Englishman on a velocipede.
