Tricycle Riding for Ladies (1881)

Tricycle Riding for Ladies

This activity is certainly gaining favour in England, but it seems as though a writer in the Albany Sunday Press has worn very strong multiplying glasses when he describes as a common sight in Regent Street “a score of ladies on tricycles, attended by as many flunkeys in white belts and breeches, riding down the roadway in double file, a similar turnout being seen in the Strand. Ladies in London now ride on tricycles with a groom on another behind them, just as they go out for horseback exercise.”
